Arlington Mill Run Internal Medicine: Julianne Huefner, MD at 3535 Fishinger Blvd., 285, Hilliard, Ohio.

Dr. Huefner had been my doctor since I left my pediatrician. Upon graduating from high school, I did not have insurance. When I finally had insurance, I wasn't sick so I didn't go to Dr. Huefner's office. It had been nearly 3 years since I had gone to the doctor, when I became really sick. I called to make an appointment and the secretary stated there were appointments open THE FOLLOWING DAY... and then the secretary informed me I was deleted as a patient since I had not been there for regular check ups so she couldn't get me in for several months. When speaking with the secretary, I asked her to please talk to Dr. Huefner because I could not imagine a doctor standing by a "policy" that would inhibit her from helping a patient in need... ESPECIALLY when there were open appointments the next day! The secretary called me back to inform me Dr. Huefner confirmed she could not see me.

What I learned from this is that this office and doctor cares more about getting money from patients through "well check-ups" (which the policy was never told to me or I'd have chosen a different doctor because I very rarely get sick AND I already go to my annual gyno exam), than actually caring for their patients. I understand why the policy is in place, however, I needed a doctor who I trusted and she did not care or make any exception in order to help me when I needed it most regardless of the circumstances. My health had not changed- I've not had a baby, no change in allergies, medications, weight, etc. since my last appointment.

If youre looking for a doctor, I highly recommend calling around. I've found several who do not require you to go every year, although they encourage it. Nothing is worse than needing a doctor, and the one who you trusted tells you that they cannot allow you to be a patient since you didn't come in when you were healthy! There was no call to inform me that there was an expiration date on my ability to be a patient there. Everyone I have shared this with has been extremely shocked... Especially considering my family attends this office and recommended Dr. Huefner to me to begin with. This office is not looking out for its patients, only #1. Extremely disappointed in this office's lack of humanity. I honestly found my conversation with the secretary to be heartless and heartbreaking.
